The Adaptability of Beach Bathroom Decor

The beach bathroom decor theme is currently one of the most popular design themes for any bathroom. This seems a natural choice, as there is a lot of water in a bathroom and so beach bathroom decor can make everyday tasks like taking a shower or brushing your teeth a little more fun surrounded by a seaside theme. It can be as serious or silly as you like. There are many options to incorporate the ultra-modern or rustic bathroom decor into your design. The only limitation is your imagination, your budget and how much your housemates will put up with.

Color Schemes

Usually, the foundation of beach bathroom decor is the colors of white and blue.   These are the stereotypical colors of water.   It’s not essential to stay with those colors, but you probably won’t stray far away from them.   If you ever really look at the sea, you'll notice that it's normally shades of green and not blue.   Some people also incorporate sandy-colors to accentuate the beach as well as the ocean waves.

If repainting the walls or choosing a new sink, tub or toilet is not within your budget, then you can at least center the rest of the beach bathroom decor on these seaside color schemes.   You can get small fixtures or a clock or towels that help try to create the new bathroom theme you want.

Resist The Urge

To keep it tasteful there are certain things you certainly don’t want to add to a beach bathroom décor theme, even if they are obviously related to water, the beach or the creatures that live in the ocean.   For example, having a singing mounted fish should most certainly be avoided at all costs.   Putting a fishing rod up on the walls should also be avoided, because accidents can happen.   Also, you don’t want a weapon handy if you get into an argument with your housemates over the beach bathroom decor.

What About Shells?

It important to avoid going completely overboard in a desire to imitate the beach.   Some people not only have shell designs on the shower curtain, but a scallop shell shaped toilet lid, shell shaped guest soaps and hundreds of the real thing spread about the room.   Although it's good idea to keep a theme, it’s not a good idea to go to the extreme.

A tip to remember is never to have real shells in a bathroom, even if you have a beach bathroom decor theme. The corrosive chemicals in tap water steam and the water itself corrode the shells and eventually cause them to dissolve. Also, when they break they can be as sharp as glass (depending on the species) which can be extremely dangerous.
